“Ok, everyone grab one!”
Linda exclaimed as we gathered around to say our goodbyes. It had been an exhilarating and productive week but we were all zapped, so the momentos were a nice surprise.
She had picked them up in a little shop in Carmel on her way to our writer’s retreat and it seemed only fitting that we end with a ceremony to close out our time together.
We all reached in and I randomly pulled out a shiny black stone with the word HOPE etched in it. It was perfect. The word alone gave me an instant feeling of comfort. I placed it in my bag convinced it was just what I needed at just the right time.
Every day we are recognizing the power of hope more than ever before. As this year’s events are unfolding around the world and in our own backyards, it has been challenging to say the least.
When circumstances seem bleak, hope helps us find the space between the cracks to bring in the light and as we see the strength within those in the midst of turmoil, we know it exists.
I have strategically placed my little gem on my kitchen counter next to my coffee pot, so every morning as I get ready to face the day, I can give it a glance and vow to always keep it in my heart.
